Brief History of the Polytechnic College

The A.D.J. Dharmambal Women's Polytechnic College was started in the year 1979-80 as a Women's Wing attached to the Valivalam Desiker Polytechnic, with the admission of 30 students to Electronic & Communication Engineering and Civil Engineering branches . This was converted to a full fledged Women's Polytechnic with four branches of study from 1986-87 with an intake of 120 students.

This polytechnic was started under the auspices of the A.D.J. Dharmambal Education Trust. The Founder Thiru A.D. Jeyaveera Pandian was a great philanthropist, industrialist and a pioneer in Import and Export business. He showed great interest in the growth and development of the polytechnic. His desire was to promote the welfare of women in the community by offering education for women. Our polytechnic is managed by a Governing Council with Thiru. A.D. Jeyem Pandian, B.Sc., B.Sc (Tech)., as Chairman, Thiru. K. Jeyaprakash, B.Sc (Agri)., as Treasurer and representatives from the State Government and the Management. Our Managing Trustee is playing a pivotal role in the development of our polytechnic college . The polytechnic college is situated in the main road between Nagapattinam and Nagore and within the town limits of Nagapattinam.
